Inspired by “The Square Root of Three” by David Feinberg 

All my life, I will always be

A function, x being the power of e

The x axis always in my sight,

It only gets further as I move right.

It seems to me like an easy task,

But y = 0 keeps evading my grasp.

Oh how I so long to be,

On the other side with things to see.

But alas, I continue along my line,

This curse of mine I can't refine.

But what's this? In the distance, through the fog,

It seems to me like a natural log

Moving ever so forward without a chance,

Of ever meeting, yet I'm in a trance.

Sadly, I know our paths never cross,

But to be with her, I’m at a loss.

Aha! I know what I can do,

I yell to her and know that it must be true.

I reach out to hold her in my embrace,

And in her arms our equations race.

No longer ln x and no longer x and e,

We become ln of e x, and we can finally be,

y = x, free together moving at last,

As one line, bonded together by our past.

And so we speed off as if together on key

Our love can finally approach
